Milton Keynes String Duo

On a Sunday in May the Manor House string duo returned to Abbey Hill Golf Centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire to perform for an intimate wedding consisting of around 80 guests. The main function suite is perfectly suited to the string duo and consists of two levels, with the bar downstairs and the wedding ceremony room being located upstairs on the first floor. In the ceremony room the string duo don’t take up too much space, so can be situated at the front of the room without encroaching on the ceremony itself (or being too overpowering in terms of volume of sound). We began by playing about an hour of pre-ceremony music in the main bar area as guests arrived and enjoyed a drink. We then relocated to the front of the ceremony room (just behind the registrar‚Äôs desk) and got ready for the bridal entrance music. For this, the bride had chosen one of the most popular wedding songs of the moment, Christina Perri‚Äôs ‚ÄòA Thousand Years‚Äô. This song has a magical lilt to it and provides a graceful ambience for the bridal procession. Later on in the ceremony we played Ben E King‚Äôs ‚ÄòStand By Me‚Äô and ‚ÄòYou and Me‚Äô by a band called Lifehouse as the signing the register music.

After the ceremony, all of the bridal party returned downstairs and we played a variety of music from our rock, pop, film and TV selections, including a special request from the bridal couple for the ‚ÄòGame of Thrones‚Äô theme. It’s always good to be able to add something unexpected to the celebrations, particularly if it’s from a much-loved series that the couple are fans of! We spoke with many guests and were pleased that the music seemed to have added so much to the atmosphere of the day.
