‘To Drive The Cold Winter Away’ (from our ‘It Came Upon The Midnight Clear and other carols’ string quartet CD) crops up in Playford’s ‘The English Dancing Master’ of 1651 as well as in the Pepysian Collection. The song is also well known as ‘In Praise of Christmas’. It is of an intermediate level of difficulty and is appropriate for both professional, student and amateur performers.
