String Duo

Many people opt to hire a string quartet for the full sound to make a function really special. yet Manor House Music are increasingly being asked to provide music for more intimate occasions - perhaps with fewer guests, or where the sound of a quartet can actually be overpowering. For this reason, we are happy to offer a growing repertoire of music for string duo.
Why choose a String Duo for a wedding?
With a wide selection of arrangements for the combinations of a Violin and Viola or Violin and Cello, a duo is highly portable. We are frequently asked to give a performance that is able to move around the venue - such as playing at various tables during a meal, or moving outside into a garden to entertain wedding guests whilst photographs are taken. The space needed for a string quartet can take up quite a bit of room in a venue, but a string duo is much smaller and highly portable.
With only two musicians instead of four, a duo takes up less space and is perfect for private functions in smaller venues or if your budget doesn't quite stretch to a whole quartet. With our carefully written arrangements, two instruments can still sound surprisingly detailed.

Another option for smaller functions is to book a solo Violinist. The repertoire for solo Violin consists mainly of classical, light jazz or traditional music. A soloist is again highly portable and is a very popular choice for a wedding ceremony.

To Vaughan, Just a short note to thank you once again for your professional service on the occasion of our wedding and reception at the end of July. Everyone we have spoken to about the events has complimented you and the other players on the standard and exemplary sound. We are racking our brains as to when we can hire your services again. Kindest Regards, Andy and Claire (Wedding at Le Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons)
