Weddings In the Sunshine
For many couples, one of the most important features of their wedding day is the element of sunshine. Having your ceremony and/or drinks reception on the lawns of an idyllic stately home is (quite understandably) high up on most couples’ lists when it comes to planning their wedding. Add to that the Champagne and Pimms all [...]
Wedding at Yaxley Hall, Suffolk
On Friday, the quartet played at the Elizabethan Manor House in Yaxley. Although this venue is not exactly on our doorstep (being a 250 mile round trip), it was nevertheless a beautiful venue to play at.
We started by playing beneath a gazebo as the guests arrived and were seated. The Pachelbel Canon in D was [...]
Wedding at Fanhams Hall
On Sunday we found ourselves back at Fanhams Hall once more, on a beautiful sunny day - playing for a wedding ceremony and reception. The couple chose to get married in a garden area to the side of the building, surrounded by high hedges with a green wooden structure which allowed the formal part of [...]
The summer wedding season….
This time of year is as usual, particularly hectic, with bookings on 7 days out of 10. Over the weekend, we provided music for four weddings in places as far afield as Le Talbooth near Colchester, Northampton, Rhinefield House in the New Forest down in Hampshire and a little bit closer to home at the Manor of Groves Hotel in Hertfordshire.
With [...]
Wedding at Wivenhoe House
On Saturday we had quite a long drive to go and play at Wivenhoe House Hotel near Colchester in Essex. The hotel itself is an 18th century building which is within the grounds of Essex University, and it used to be the headquarters of the SAS!
Despite the patch of variable weather we’ve had over the last [...]
Wedding at the Swiss Gardens
On Friday we returned once more to the Swiss Gardens at Old Warden in Bedfordshire to play for a wedding. Whereas our concert in June was for a full string quartet, this time we played as a string duo. In many ways, the little rustic cottage on the hill where the weddings take place is [...]
Playing for outdoor weddings and events
Just had another busy weekend where we played for two weddings and a birthday party. Despite the weather being a bit unsettled, we still managed to play outdoors on Friday when we returned for another wedding at Notley Abbey near Aylesbury.
Although the wedding ceremony was outdoors, by law the registration process (signing the register etc) has to be conducted under a [...]
A busy bank holiday weekend….and a day in the life of a string quartet
It’s been a busy bank holiday weekend for us with three weddings, one was a wedding at Loseley Park near Guildford, the second wedding was at the Elvetham in Hampshire and a third (much nearer to home), was a wedding at Stowe House in Buckinghamshire.
All three had unique requests and in the case of the first two, [...]
Musicians Gallery….
Some of the weddings we enjoy playing for most of all are those where the acoustics of the venue are such that quartet can really be heard during the wedding reception - and this weekend up in the musicians gallery at Kingscote Barn in Tetbury was a really good example.
A musicians gallery (or ‘minstrels gallery’) is a form of [...]
Summer weddings have arrived…..
With beautiful weather this weekend, the quartet had our first ‘outdoor’ engagement of 2009 at Layer Marney Tower in Essex. It’s always a pleasure to play at Layer Marney because the staff are so incredibly helpful and really look after the musicians so that we can get on with our job and play as much music as possible. [...]
