Invitation to the Dance - A Concert

On Friday, we gave our first concert in St Mary’s Church, Haddenham. As this was also the first time we’d performed a recital in the village, it was a real unknown in many ways - we were not sure whether we’d have a large audience or just a few people along this first time. Having [...]

Travellers Tales at St Mary’s

On Saturday evening (after performing at a wedding in Hertfordshire during the afternoon), we gave our first concert in the 13th century Church of St Mary the Virgin, in Eaton Bray - Bedfordshire. The church had previously  hosted a jazz event and has a choral concert planned for later in the year, but it was [...]

A Night at the Movies….

On Friday, we gave our much anticipated concert at St Giles Church, Cheddington - entitled ‘A Night At The Movies’ featuring popular classics featured in films. As usual, we spent the whole day rehearsing hard, with two hours of music to perfect for the evening. The rest of the group arrived around 11am and we [...]

Concert at St Mary’s Eaton Bray - 5th June 2010

It’s now only about a month to go before our concert in St Mary’s Church, Eaton Bray. As this is the first time we’ll have played in the village, we are keeping the concert program very light and popular to hopefully appeal to a wide audience, including those who might not normally go to a [...]

Forthcoming Concert at St Giles Church, Cheddington

It seems quite recently that we were blogging about our Christmas concert in St Giles Church, Cheddington (our own village) and already the spring sunshine is here and we’re busy programming for another concert in the church to take place on May the 14th 2010.
As each time we play in the village, we try to [...]

Music for a Corporate Dinner

December is always a full month for string quartets when it comes to Christmas parties and corporate events. Last week, we had the pleasure of playing for a company who had booked us previously in the year and invited us back again for their Christmas party. The event was held in the Royal Berkshire Conference [...]

Wedding at Hedsor House

Hedsor house is an impressive Tudor building near Taplow in South Buckinghamshire and on Saturday the string quartet were booked to play for a wedding there. The venue has a stunning central hall with a circular gallery which is ideal for a string quartet to project music from. Before the wedding, we played a selection [...]

Wedding at Waddesdon Manor

Last week we had another Friday wedding at a very local venue to us - Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire.  At Waddesdon the weddings take place at ‘the Old Dairy’ which is a separate building to the Manor House itself. It cleverly utilises two buildings with a conservatory type area between the two which overlooks a lake [...]

From Beer to Bazzini….

On Friday we got together in a sunny conservatory at Louise’s house to play through some more chamber works, with a view to finding pieces for forthcoming recitals and exploring some neglected pieces. I had picked at random a selection of string quartets from the shelves and we decided to spend the morning looking at a well known work [...]

The summer wedding season….

This time of year is as usual, particularly hectic, with bookings on 7 days out of 10. Over the weekend, we provided music for four weddings in places as far afield as Le Talbooth near Colchester, Northampton, Rhinefield House  in the New Forest down in Hampshire and a little bit closer to home at the Manor of Groves Hotel in Hertfordshire.
With [...]
