Hedsor House String Duo

Hedsor House String Duo РA couple of Thursdays ago, the Manor House String Duo returned to the beautiful Hedsor House, near Taplow in Buckinghamshire. Midweek weddings have become increasingly popular, partly because venues offer some very good deals for these midweek dates and people are often able to take a day off work to attend the wedding of a friend or family member, so this can often work out well.

We began playing as guests entered the main room at the heart of the house, before the entrance of the bride. Nowadays, brides and grooms often like to choose music for their ceremony which will make the occasion particularly special. This may mean that the bride can enter to ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol arranged for strings for example, rather than necessarily opting for Wagner’s ‘Bridal Chorus’ for string duo. You can read all about this in our article ‘The Bridal Entrance – Songs To Walk Down The Aisle To’. As we were positioned in the gallery overlooking the wedding party, we had the benefit of the superb acoustics in the hall which meant that the music could be heard easily by everyone.

After the ceremony, we entertained guests with a selection of modern cover versions of pop and rock classics arranged for string duo. As it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, we managed to find a shaded area and played outside for the appreciative guests who were enjoying the afternoon sunshine.
