Today, the string quartet played for a wedding held in St. Andrew’s Church, Great Billing, on the outskirts of Northampton. We played a selection of classical pieces as the guests entered the Church, before performing Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the Bridal entrance. As there were bridesmaids and a procession of other guests before the bride entered, we had to make sure that the music was timed so that we finished exactly as the bride and her Father reached the altar.

Later on, we re-joined the wedding party at Easton Maudit near Wellingborough for the reception drinks. At the front of the marquee, there was an area shaded from the elements where we entertained the guests. Just before the receiving line was due to start, there was a heavy downpour of rain but we continued playing nonetheless and finished as the newly married couple entered the marquee to a round of applause!
