Sussex Wedding String Duo at Rye Town Hall

Sussex Wedding String Duo at Rye Town Hall – Last Sunday, Fay and I performed as a violin and viola string duo for a wedding held in the Town Hall at Rye in East Sussex. The Town Hall is a historic building with lists of all the past Mayors dating back to Norman times. Until recently, it also acted as a court room so has a formal feel well suited to wedding ceremonies and it has a splendid acoustic, allowing our string duo to project very nicely above the din of 100 or so guests! We played some relaxing wedding classical music as all the guests made their way to their seats and as there was a delay in the bridal party arriving, the music was much appreciated by guests as they awaited the big moment!

Afterwards, we made our way on foot to The George in Rye where we supplied music for the reception drinks and later on, where the wedding breakfast was to be held. The guests assembled in a courtyard for drinks and canapes and we found a shaded spot from which to entertain them. We played a selection of music designed to appeal to all ages and had some lovely comments from guests who felt that the music provided a perfect ambience without inhibiting anyone’s conversation.

Everyone then made their way upstairs for the wedding breakfast and we provided a piece of music for the bridal couple to enter to. As the speeches were at the beginning of the meal and our playing had come to an end, we exited the room and made the long journey home!
