On Friday, the string duo (violin and cello) played for a Catholic wedding ceremony at the Church of St. Mary and St. Joseph in Boxmoor, near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire. This was an ideal event for a string duo as we fit neatly to the left hand side of the altar (a string quartet would have taken up too much space).

We created a calming and uplifting ambiance with a selection of music handpicked by the bridal couple – this was played as guests arrived and found their seats. For the bridal entrance itself we played the very popular Canon in D by Pachelbel. Unusually, we also accompanied the hymns as well as playing during the signing of the register and the exit of the married couple.

The guests then congregated outside for photographs and we continued playing until the last of them had left and made their way to the wedding reception.
