Wedding at St Mary’s Church, Haddenham
On Saturday, myself and Emma (viola) played for a wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in Haddenham, situated on the Buckinghamshire / Oxfordshire border. It was pleasant to return to this lovely church as we had performed two recitals here as a string quartet a couple of years ago. We arrived early to rehearse as one of the bride’s best friends was to sing a special song during the signing of the register, accompanied by us. A very kind gentleman who deals with the sound system in the church helped to create a perfect balance between the singer and ourselves. As the entrance of the bride took place some 15 minutes later than scheduled, the string duo music helped to keep the right atmosphere prior to her arrival.
We then travelled some six miles to the recption venue at The Barn at Chilton. The views were stunning at this lovely location (particularly as the sun was shining on a hot May afternoon) and we finished playing as everyone made their way outside to enjoy some much needed drinks!
