Boxing Day Concert - St Martin in the Fields
On Boxing Day, we were delighted to be invited to perform in one of London’s finest Churches for classical music - St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square. The concert was held at lunchtime, with free entrance and donations to the many good causes supported by St Martin’s.
Having a concert of Christmas carols arranged for string quartet was in many ways ideal because although Boxing day is still well within the Christmas period, many audience members commented that they’d heard plenty of carols sung in the last couple of weeks and had particularly enjoyed hearing refreshing instrumental versions.
We performed a mixture of pieces from our two albums and received a warm response from the audience, many of whom were tourists visiting the UK over the Christmas period. Plenty of concert goers purchased our CD’s as a souvenir and expressed delight at the inventiveness of our arrangements.
We very much hope to return to St Martin’s again and this was a perfect end to our series of Christmas concerts for 2011.
