Music for the Battle of Britain Dinner

By vaughan • September 24, 2011 • Posted in: Functions and Events

On the 15th September, we were delighted to be asked to return to a local Military Barracks to perform for their annual dinner to commemorate the Battle of Britain. The combination of violin and cello were specifically asked for as space was limited and the range provided by these two instruments is considerable.  The event started at 6.30pm with a display from a surviving W.W. 2 aircraft. We then started playing as guests made their way to their seats at the start of dinner. At various points during the evening there were speeches which described different aspects of the Battle of Britain campaign and we continued (albeit with a couple of breaks) through to around 10.30pm. The evening ended with the British and U.S. national anthems being performed, followed by a speech from the guest of honour. Everyone then made their way down to the bar and as we left the festivities continued!
