Computer problems!
Last week was a bit fraught when we suddenly developed computer problems. The computer wouldn’t boot up and even ‘turning it on and off again’ didn’t work. With running the business from home, it is amazing how much of a lifeline having a functional PC has become. It’s not just a case of answering emails, sending out contracts, looking up addresses of wedding venues and writing string arrangements, but the fact that much of the information we needed (such publicity photographs of the quartet, documents about concerts and templates for invoices) was trapped inside the dead computer. We were extremely fortunate that Andy Hooper of Leighton Computer Services seemed to make room in his busy schedule to work on our computer at all hours of the day and night, meaning that we lost no data and had everything up and running within a couple of days. Most importantly, he’s installed us a foolproof backup system so if it ever goes down again, all is not lost and we don’t have to go into panic mode!
