String Duo for a Wedding at Nonsuch Mansion, Nonsuch Park
On Friday, myself and Adrian on viola performed as a string duo at a wedding in the delightful setting of Nonsuch Mansion House, set in the grounds of Nonsuch Park in the borough of Cheam, Surrey. The venue is a historic house retaining many period features and consisting of three spacious rooms adjoining one another. This made a perfect venue for a string duo as we were easily able to move from one room through to another after the ceremony and back again to play for the wedding breakfast.
The bride had specifically requested that we play Beethoven’s Fur Elise as the piece immediately before the bridal entrance, this was followed by the traditional wedding march and the bridal couple left to a rendition of Handel’s Hornpipe from the Water Music. The venue staff were very welcoming throughout and we hope to have another opportunity to play there again in the future.
