Wedding at St Ives in Cambridgeshire

By vaughan • February 25, 2011 • Posted in: Weddings

Last week, Martin (viola) and myself (violin) played for a wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The ceremony took place in the spacious Methodist Chapel at The Waits in the centre of the town and the generous acoustics enabled the guests to enjoy a selection of more modern tunes before the bride entered.

The wedding breakfast took place at Oliver’s Lodge Hotel which was about a third of a mile from the Chapel and we played in a central position which enabled the 60 or so guests to hear our music without any element of us overpowering conversation. I spoke to the bridal couple as we left and they were happy that the right balance had been achieved and that we had been able to add to the atmosphere without the music becoming intrusive.
