Wedding at the Tudor Barn, Burnham
Yesterday, the quartet had the pleasure of returning to the Tudor Barn in Burnham on the borders of Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. The barn has two main rooms - a smaller one on the left hand side which is used for the ceremonies and a larger one which is perfect for the drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts (there is also a conveniently situated bar between the two). We have played at this venue several times and always found that the weddings there have been good natured, relaxed and jovial - yesterday’s was no exception.
The ceremony itself was a lovely affair with the music perfectly complimenting the bridal entrance, signing of the register (during which we played Debussy’s Claire de Lune) and the recessional. During the reception where tea and cakes were served we retired to a balcony area which meant that the music was able to project effortlessly so that all the guests could enjoy us without conversation being drowned out. A lively selection of popular and more modern tunes accompanied this part of the day - many of which were hand picked by the bridal couple who seemed delighted with the string quartet.
