Wedding at Notley Tythe Barn
On Friday, we returned once again to a local venue outside of Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire - Notley Tythe Barn. The barn is an atmospheric rural venue with wonderful exposed beams and over 300 years of history. The owner, Nick was on hand to help co-ordinate proceedings including giving the signal for us to start playing for the bridal entrance and he made us very welcome.
The couple who were getting married live in the next village along from us and had come along to one of our concerts in Cheddington church before booking us, so they had a good idea of how we played. Like many of our clients, they had enjoyed themselves choosing a bespoke selection of music from our playlist page so that all their favourites could be performed on the day itself, including a special request.
As the weather was beautiful, the venue had helpfully erected a gazebo for us so that we could play outside in a position that didn’t get in the way of the photographs which were taken by local photographer Terry Lee. It was nice to be so near to the group photographs so that we were able to entertain the guests as they were waiting to have their pictures taken. In so many weddings in larger venues, the bridal couple in particular can be taken away to parts of the grounds a long way from where we are playing, so (particularly during a drinks reception) they often miss out on hearing a lot of the pieces they have carefully chosen. On Friday the opposite was true and many of the bridal party and guests were visibly enjoying some of their favourite pieces. Terry the photographer was without any doubt one of the best we have ever come across - he was easy to work with and managed to make the various photographs enjoyable for the guests with his boundless good humour and communication skills - we hope to play at a wedding where he is working again at some point in the future.
