Wedding at the Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross
Last Friday, Rachel (viola) and I played at a civil wedding at the Bull Hotel in Gerrards Cross. As this is quite a local venue to us, the amount of travelling time was minimal and it made a pleasant change to driving vast distances!
It was a lovely warm day and the venue lent itself perfectly to a string duo, particularly as the drinks reception took place in the bar area which we re-organised slightly to fit in the two instruments (complete with our chairs and music stands). For the ceremony itself, the bride entered to the very popular ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’, having also chosen to hear ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ as a special request before her entrance, as guests were finding their seats.
As the wedding ceremony took place in the Chalfont Suite and the reception was held in the Thames Suite, we both remarked that it was just as well that the couple had booked a string duo rather than a full string quartet as there may not have been enough room to fit a quartet comfortably in the bar area and it’s far easier to move a string duo between various rooms than four people with chairs, music stands and instruments!
