Tony’s Cello Journey
It’s always exciting to bring news of what various quartet members are doing individually and this week I wanted to write a little about Tony’s new album ‘Cello Journey’ which is currently flying off the shelves at HMV and other music outlets.
Although he’s a passionate chamber musician, Tony wanted to create an album of contemporary English music written purely for solo cello and has also obtained permission to include a previously unrecorded piece by Sir William Walton that was written for Prince Charles in 1970. One piece on the album (called ‘Lost Time’) is written by Andrew Holdsworth for piano and cello and here is a video clip of Tony and Andrew performing it at Potton Hall where the album was recorded.
The album entitled ‘Tony Woollard - Cello Journey’ can be purchased from HMV here and features beautifully recorded and uplifting music by Robert Saxton, Jonathan Rathbone, Yvonne Parsons and Ivan Hussey.
