Concert at St Mary’s Eaton Bray - 5th June 2010

By vaughan • May 2, 2010 • Posted in: Concerts and recitals

It’s now only about a month to go before our concert in St Mary’s Church, Eaton Bray. As this is the first time we’ll have played in the village, we are keeping the concert program very light and popular to hopefully appeal to a wide audience, including those who might not normally go to a classical recital.

The concert will be called ‘Travellers Tales’ and follow a similar format to a performance we gave in Cheddington last year, with different pieces of music representing each different country. Almost all the pieces we play will be well known and include Brahms - Hungarian DanceĀ  no. 6 (Hungary), Holst - St Paul’s Suite (England), Grieg - Anitras Dance (Norway), Puccini - Humming Chorus (Italy and in a way Japan!), Borodin - Nocturne (Russia), Albeniz - Tango (Spain) and Mozart - Rondo Alla Turca (Turkey).

Last week, we popped into the beautiful church to have a quick rehearsal and get a feel for the acoustics and filmed the following piece, a Viennese Gallop by Johann Strauss Senior to represent Austria!

Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start and tickets are available in advance from Robert and Joan Calder on 01525 220872. With profits from the concert going towards the upkeep of this historic Bedfordshire church, we hope the evening will be well attended and we certainly intend to make it enjoyable for the audience!
