It seems quite recently that we were blogging about our string quartet Christmas concert in St Giles Church, Cheddington (our own village) and already the spring sunshine is here and we’re busy programming for another concert in the church to take place on May the 14th 2010.

As each time we play in the village, we try to give the concert a ‘theme’ and base most of the program on popular classics with wide appeal, this time we discussed several possible ideas and have opted to call the concert ‘A Night At The Movies’, featuring well loved pieces of music that have featured in movies throughout the years.

The program is still being finalised, but already we know that we’ll be playing an arrangement of ‘The Flower Duet’ (which was featured in Meet the Parents, The American President and Carlito’s Way), Nimrod by Elgar (which was played in the film Elizabeth) and Boccherini’s Minuet (from the Ladykillers).

Tickets are already selling fast but are available by calling Stewart Miles on 01296 660427. The concert starts at 7.45pm with doors opening at 7.30pm and we’re delighted to say that as well as profits from the concert going towards the ‘Cherish Your Church Campaign’, this time they will also be helping towards the fundraising appeal to restore the Church Bells at St Giles.

Rehearsals start next Tuesday and we are looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful concert in St. Giles.
