Music for a Corporate Dinner
December is always a full month for string quartets when it comes to Christmas parties and corporate events. Last week, we had the pleasure of playing for a company who had booked us previously in the year and invited us back again for their Christmas party. The event was held in the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre at the Madjeski stadium in Reading. This venue is perfectly set up for corporate hospitality with large spaces to accommodate plenty of people and executive boxes with a view over the football pitch. There was plenty of Christmas decor and quite soon everyone was in a festive mood as we entertained people with a mixture of lively carols and upbeat music to suit the occasion. Halfway through the evening, the guests proceeded to the dining area for speeches before we resumed playing and the party got into full swing.
It’s always nice to get feedback from guests and at the end of the evening, we were pleasantly surprised when a group of people who had been smoking outside came up to tell us how much they’d enjoyed the music - we didn’t think they could hear us but apparently had been playing an informal game of ‘guess the intro’ and trying to name each piece as we started playing!
