Wedding at Hedsor House
Hedsor house is an impressive Tudor building near Taplow in South Buckinghamshire and on Saturday the string quartet were booked to play for a wedding there. The venue has a stunning central hall with a circular gallery which is ideal for a string quartet to project music from. Before the wedding, we played a selection of light classical music such as ‘The Swan’ by Saint Saens and ‘Salut d’Amour’ by Elgar and rather aptly (for a cold December day) the bride chose to enter to the slow movement from ‘Winter’ by Vivaldi. This is a lovely, atmospheric piece which is less frequently played at weddings than the opening Allegro from Spring and it works beautifully as an unusual piece for a wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, guests collected their drinks from the neighbouring room before re-entering the room (which had been speedily cleared of chairs!) for the drinks reception - we played a lively mixture of music before the wedding breakfast.
