Wedding at Gosfield Hall
Gosfield Hall is a magical venue as it has an authentic feel created by the unspoiled interiors. Paintings, lithographs and all manner of objects are present to instill a feeling of unbroken history. With beautiful courtyards, this is one of the loveliest venues imaginable. It was a perfect wedding for a string duo as the ceremony room was extremely long and narrow - only half of it was used with a wedding party of around 60 people, so the volume of a string quartet may have been overpowering and been more difficult to move around as guests drifted out into the garden. With a string duo, it’s simply a case of picking up our music stands and walking out to follow the guests on this unusually warm October day. As a result of the lovely weather we were chasing the shade as the sun moved round and there was no gazebo or naturally shaded area. Nevertheless, we managed to stay outside and provide a varied selection of music, receiving a very warm ovation at the end.
