String Quartet for a Corporate Breakfast

By vaughan • September 28, 2009 • Posted in: Functions and Events

Last week, we were engaged to play for a very early function - a Corporate Breakfast to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading. We began playing at 8.30am as various employees enjoyed a buffet breakfast before a film presentation. Later in the morning, we had two more slots of playing in the main shopping mall itself. It was a real treat to play some quartets by Haydn and Mozart and many people commented that hearing beautiful classical music was a nice gentle way to start the day…. in fact at one point, we had quite an audience gathered around us.

The day after we had played, we were really pleased to receive an email from the PR agency who had booked us, informing us that a shopping centre customer had taken the trouble to fill out a ‘feedback form’ saying that she had really enjoyed hearing the string quartet whilst shopping and that it made a lovely atmosphere. It’s always nice to feel that even providing background music can make a difference to some one’s day.
