Wedding at Notley Abbey

By vaughan • September 27, 2009 • Posted in: Weddings

It’s always a delight to return to the spacious and splendid grounds of Notley Abbey which is a wedding venue right on our doorstep here in Buckinghamshire. Notley has a long and distinguished history and everything has an understated and tasteful quality about it.
We have played here both as a duo and quartet many times and in the wedding room, both combinations project beautifully due to the fabulous acoustics which could almost have been designed for live music.
The bridal couple chose some traditional pieces during the ceremony including Pachelbel’s Canon, Mendelssohn’s Wedding March and Bach’s Sheep May Safely Grave. The ceremony was then blessed by a vicar for which we played the hymn ‘morning has broken’ to accompany the singing. It was a beautiful day so we were able to play outside and whilst drinks were served we provided a selection of classical music, including some works for violin / viola duo by Michael Haydn, Gehot and Mozart.
