Wedding at Dodmoor House

By vaughan • September 24, 2009 • Posted in: Weddings

On a bright Friday last week, we returned to the picturesque setting of Dodmoor House which is a wedding venue conveniently situated just off the A5 near Weedon in Northamptonshire. One of the buildings is perfectly suited for ceremonies with a combination of wood and brick which helps the acoustics considerably.

As a string duo, myself and violist Reiad Chibah perform regular recitals together as well as having recorded a classical disc last year, so our ‘ensemble’ is well honed and our playing has quite a conversational style. As on Friday we were performing for a wedding, we weren’t playing the lesser known chamber music duo’s that we specialise in, but arrangements of popular classics and pieces such as Summertime, Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Bach Air and Vivaldi’s Spring (from the Four Seasons). This proves popular as most guests will recognise the melodies even if they may not know the title of the pieces.

During the reception, we played outside in a shaded area as guests enjoyed celebratory drinks in the warm autumn sunshine!
