Weekday weddings….
With a lot of wedding venues charging a premium for Saturday weddings over the summer, weekday weddings are becoming an affordable and ideal choice for lots of couples. One main concern is that friends and family won’t take the time off work but with both Friday and Monday being popular days falling either side of the weekend, generally speaking we’ve played at weddings where the gatherings have been just as large as on a Saturday or Sunday.
This week we played for weddings on both Friday and Monday (Fridays being a very popular choice nowadays). As Mondays are less in demand for wedding suppliers generally, one advantage is good availability of all the services including musicians, photographers, caterers, florists and entertainment - people who would probably be already booked a long way in advance for peak Saturdays. With some venues offering some very reasonable prices for weekday weddings (for exactly the same service), we’ve certainly noticed a sharp increase in enquiries and bookings for days other than the traditional Saturdays.
On Monday we played once again in the picturesque setting of Newland Hall in Essex - so we could provide music for guests as they enjoyed the lovely August sunshine. As the bridal couple had opted for a string duo (perfect for gatherings of 70 guests or under or if the music is simply there to set a background ambiance), we were able to keep costs down whilst still maintaining a high standard of performance.
