Wedding at Wivenhoe House

On Saturday we had quite a long drive to go and play at Wivenhoe House Hotel near Colchester in Essex. The hotel itself is an 18th century building which is within the grounds of Essex University, and it used to be the headquarters of the SAS!

Despite the patch of variable weather we’ve had over the last week, luckily the rain held off during the ceremony and we were able to play outdoors under a gazebo.

Once the ceremony itself was over we moved indoors and because there wasn’t quite room to fit the quartet into the same room as the wedding breakfast, we were set up in an adjacent room with the doors flung open so that the music could be heard perfectly clearly by all. Being slightly out of the way, we also had the advantage of not getting under the feet of any passing waiters or guests, so we were able to play continuously without any interruption.

We performed a really wide selection of pieces and lots of guests came up to us to say how much they’d enjoyed the music.
