Wedding Recitals
So often when we’re hired to perform at weddings and partnership ceremonies, we are asked to supply background music whilst guests mingle or during photographs.
Yesterday we were asked for something a little bit different - a small recital (with pieces chosen by the couple) as part of the days proceedings. As there were approximately 30 guests in the intimate surroundings of the drawing room at Norwood Park , we had recommended a string duo , and this worked extremely well acoustically.
Before the partnership ceremony was due to begin, guests arrived and were seated on sofas and chairs - so the atmosphere was elegant and lent itself ideally to chamber music whilst guests naturally sat and listened intently. We played arrangements of pieces like the Flower Duet by Delibes, Chanson de Matin by Elgar, Vivaldi Spring and the Swan by Saint Saens and received applause after each piece.
After playing music during the ceremony itself, we went outside to play on the lawns and provided background music whilst photographs were taken and champagne sipped.
All together it was a beautiful day and it’s always rewarding when guests come up to us at the end and tell us how the music was a special touch and a memorable part of the day.
